History writing

What I do
I apply all of the writing and research skills you see throughout this site to my true passion, writing and researching history, especially the history of New York City, recreation and entertainment in the United States, and Prohibition.

A licensed New York tour guide, I’m an expert in the history of Flatbush, Brooklyn, where I’ve lived for 20 years. I run my own site, FlatbushHistory.com, as well as its accompanying Instagram account @flatbush_history, which has more than 2,000 followers.

My editing work includes the books The Wit and Witticism of Mark Twain (for which I wrote an original introduction and timeline), Ballparks: Journey Through the Fields of the Past, Present, and Future (for which I also did the photo research) and The Knickerbocker: The Legendary Hotel Reborn. I’m currently writing a biography about Broadway entertainer Helen Morgan.
